Douglas J. Fletcher Memorial Golf Tournament
The 1st Annual Douglas J. Fletcher Memorial Golf Tournament, held on September 17th, was a huge success. Clients, vendors, staff and friends of Convention Data Services got together at Brookside Country Club on Cape Cod for a best ball tournament to benefit the National Marine Life Center. Thank you to all that participated!


Communication Drives Organizational Changes
In our continuing efforts to deliver superior customer service and streamline our communication process, we have implemented several organizational changes.

In addition to the Account Executives, Exhibitor Services, and Sales groups, the Registration Managers will now become the responsibility of David Lawton, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Maureen Kelly joined Convention Data Services on November 1st as Event Services Manager, in charge of our Registration Management team. Maureen brings with her over 16 years of experience in project management, marketing, and customer service. Our manager of Exhibitor Services, Peter Abraham, has taken on the additional responsibilities of Sales Manager.

Deborah Tanis, Vice President of Operations, will oversee the Customer Service Center, Production, Data Entry, Order Processing, Logistics, and the Onsite Management teams. Mark Duffy joined the team as Manager of Onsite Operations. Mark has over 25 years experience in onsite logistics and freight management in the tradeshow industry.

Holiday Schedule 2008
With the Holiday season fast approaching, we would like to remind you of our upcoming Holiday Schedule. Our offices will be closed on November 22nd for Thanksgiving, November 23rd for the day after Thanksgiving, and December 24th and 25th for Christmas.

Convention Data Services will be closed in observance of the following holidays in 2008:

Case Study: Replacing Print with Electronic Copies    

Convention Data Services’ Order Processing Department “Goes Green”

CHALLENGE: Tracking and reporting for our clients has traditionally required the generation, storage and distribution of a large number of printed documents. The Order Processing Department at CDS desired to reduce the amount of printed materials they distribute while still providing our clients with timely, detailed information.

SOLUTION: CDS has put the following initiatives in place:
  • Digital copies of scanned registration forms
  • Digital weekly spreadsheet package
  • Digital daily reports package
  • Electronic credit back process

RESULTS: By going digital with many of the documents that have traditionally been printed, CDS not only significantly reduced our paper use, but added the speed and convenience of electronic distribution. The report packages for each event often totaled hundreds of printed pages while hardcopy registrations numbered in the thousands. Giving our clients the option to receive this information electronically allows us to provide faster distribution in a form that is easier to manage and store.

Product Showcase: Renewable Badge Stock    

Convention Data Services has begun using renewable and recyclable badge stock for all of its credentials printing. The paper is made from fast growing Eucalyptus which produces a high quality stock and can be regenerated in 10 years as opposed to 20-30 years required by other trees.

The Eucalyptus biomass (tree bark) not used in the paper making process is burned as a clean and renewable source of energy. The switch to environmentally friendly printing is one of many steps CDS is taking to help protect and preserve our natural resources.
